This Privacy Policy explains how the Islet website and app handle data. Islet is a journal app, designed to keep your entries in storage you choose.
We do not collect your journal content
Islet does not collect, read, or upload the text, photos, videos, voice recordings, notebook names, or other journal content you enter in the app.
By default, app data is stored on your device. You do not need to create an account to use Islet.
Sync and encryption
If you turn on sync, Islet encrypts your data on your device before syncing it to the S3 or WebDAV storage you configure. You keep the recovery key. We cannot use it to decrypt your data.
The S3, WebDAV, or other storage service you choose may process service logs, account information, or storage metadata under its own privacy policy. Please review that service's privacy policy before using it.
Speech-to-text
Islet supports configuring Baidu AI Cloud speech-to-text. This feature is optional and is enabled only when you choose to configure your own Baidu AI Cloud API token and use speech-to-text.
When you use this feature, the voice content you choose to transcribe is sent directly from the app to Baidu AI Cloud for processing. Islet does not route these requests through our servers, and we do not collect, store, or read your API token, voice content, or transcription results.
Baidu AI Cloud may process the data you send to it under its own terms of service and privacy policy. Please review Baidu AI Cloud's policies before enabling this feature.
Website usage data
We use a self-hosted Umami analytics service on the website to collect usage data. The service is hosted at u.hamsterbase.com and is used to understand page visits, download entry usage, and website performance.
Umami analytics does not collect anything you enter in the Islet app and does not collect your journal data. We do not associate website analytics with your journal content, and we do not use analytics to identify you personally.
Website analytics may include basic usage information such as pages visited, referrer, browser, operating system, device type, language, visit time, and approximate region. We use this information only to improve the website and product experience.
We do not sell personal data
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your journal content for advertising, profiling, or third-party marketing.
Data you control
You can delete Islet data from your device at any time. If you enabled sync, you can also delete the corresponding data from the S3 or WebDAV storage you configured.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the product or website changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
